Angus Lake Healthcare Benches Old Equipment, Puts TruPak™ And TruCheck™ In The Starting Lineup
At Angus Lake Healthcare in Gordon, GA, the starting lineup for pouch packaging and pouch inspection has been flipped 180 degrees. The old systems are on the bench. TruPak™ and TruCheck™ won the starting spots, and the “scoreboard” reflects it.
The plan was originally to run both. Joel Stanley, VP of Operations at Angus Lake Healthcare, expected to keep the pharmacy’s legacy pouch packager and vision system in active rotation alongside the new JFCRx™ equipment. That’s not how it played out.
“I had planned to use both our old and our new systems,” Stanley said. “But since we put JFCRx equipment in place, we have run less than 500 bags total through the old devices. We found the TruPak packages three to four times faster than our old pouch packager, and the TruCheck pouch inspection is four times faster than our old vision system.”
For Stanley, the throughput gains were only part of the decision. The other part was longevity.
“I appreciate that JFCRx’s plan is developing systems that will last, that their machines will be just as functional in 10 to 15 years as they are the day they are installed. We purposely didn’t purchase from our old vendor because of these factors.”
